HILL STREET MVA PDF Print E-mail

An elderly woman was transported to Southampton Hospital on Monday afternoon after she was involved in a car accident on Hill Street in Southampton Village.

The woman was driving on Hill Street near the Halsey Street intersection when she was hit by another vehicle at around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, according to Chris Brenner, the public information officer for the Southampton Fire Department. She was transported to Southampton Hospital via Southampton Village Volunteer Ambulance.

Mr. Brenner said that the woman, whose name has not yet been released, had non-life-threatening injuries.

Herbert “Eggie” Raynor has been a volunteer fireman since he was 21 years old. That was more than six decades ago. Sixty-one years, to be exact.

And while the years have aged and changed him in many ways, and changed countless other people and things about the East End region he loves, one thing that has remained constant is his devotion to the Southampton Village Fire Department and to fire departments and firefighters everywhere.

Mr. Raynor, now 82, is originally from Westhampton Beach, and he first joined the Westhampton Beach Fire Department in 1948. But after he met his wife, Patsy, and moved to Breese Lane in Southampton Village in the mid-1950s, he joined the Southampton Fire Department and has been a faithful member ever since..READ ALL
